Easy Question: SQL Server Agent Problem
Experts:
I think this is probably an easy question for you. I have installed MSDE and
SS Desktop Edition on two different machines (Windows 98). Each time I try
to look at the Properties menu for SS Agent in Enterprise Manager, EM hangs.
I installed Service Pack 2 on one machine, but that did not fix the problem.
Also if I change SA password to something other than the default, SS Agent
will not start. It only starts with the default password; shouldn't I change
this for security reasons. I have SS7 running on another Windows NT box with
none of these problems.
Any help greatly appreciated,
Gary

Easy Question: SQL Server Agent Problem (reply)
Starting SQL Server Agent by command line verbose gives this after
I have changed the password from default:
6/1/00 3:52:11 PM - ? [094] SQLServerAgent started from command line
6/1/00 3:52:11 PM - ! [298] SQLServer Error: 18456, Login failed for user 'sa'.
[SQLSTATE 28000] (Same message as in Enterprise Manager SQL Agent error log)
6/1/00 3:52:11 PM - ! [000] Unable to connect to server; SQLServerAgent
cannot start
6/1/00 3:52:11 PM - ? [098] SQLServerAgent terminated (normally)
Of course, the 18456 in BOL doesn't tell me what I need to do to get the
new 'sa' password recognized by SS Agent.
