    Error Message

    Hi All,

    Can anyone tell me what this error means..

    Error: 0, Severity: 20, State: 0
    Stored function 'xp_sqlmaint' in the library 'xpstar.dll' generated an
    access violation. SQL Server is terminating process 10.

    It means that the xpstar dll tried to access an invalid memory location. It's a glitch. You can get that kind of error by trying to access a pointer that has been released or improperly defined.

    It either received a bad argument, or the dll just glitched. If it continues with different arguments in the call, try resetting the server. If it repeats only with those particular arguments (or that job), then you may want to examine those arguments or the maintenance job that it was running.
