Error 17833

I recently upgraded to SQL 7.0 SP2 and it has been one issue after another. Here's the latest, this morning the following error was in the log:

Error: 17833, Severity: 18, State: 1
2000-11-20 09:31:09.18 ods ListenOn connection '1433' is already in use..

No other computers were able to connect to the server until a reboot was performed on a production machine at 10 o'clcok on a Monday morning. As you can guess, nobody was too happy. I can find no information on why this happens and how to trouble shoot it. Has anybody seen this before?

SQL Server needs port 1433 available for itself. It sounds as though another application is trying to use port 1433.
