    What does .. explicitly mean ?

    Within a server, any object can be referenced in the format :
    <database name>.<owner name>.<object>
    As long as the owner is &#39;dbo&#39;, specifying owner name is optional.
    So instead of saying master.dbo.xp_cmdshell, it is ok to say master..xp_cmdshell. In other words, .. assumes dbo as the owner
