    SQL MAIL

    Some body please provide information regarding SQL Mail..what is it?? how can one use it?? Please gimme some details...

    SQL MAIL (reply)

    SQL Mail allows your SQL Server to send e-mail. It can send the results of queries, notify the operator of errors, etc. Very, very useful. It can also receive and process incoming e-mail.

    See BOL for how to set up. Just remember that you need an e-mail account for it and the SQL Agent service has to be running under an NT domain account (no localsystem) mapped to that e-mail account. Also, if you can't send e-mail from Outlook using that machine and domain account, neither can SQL Server.
