There few different notations based on what type you follow.

Are you using any data modeling tool?. You can pick the type of notation in your tool.

I am using Er/studio. However, it seems the tool doesn't have any notations for entity types. Therefore, I want to write an ehancement request for it after I find out the standard notation for entity types.

    Please advise

ER/Studio does not have separate shape for them, but you can use different color to differentiate them. ERWin shows associative table as rectangle with curved edges.

According to what you said, there is no standard for standard graphical representations for entity types. is it just personal preferences?

    Thanks

You can say that. In some books I have seen associative entity represented as dotted rectangle.
