initblkmem: not enough memory...
Hello All,
I am new to this list so I apologise in advance for repeating this problem if someone else has posted it.
The server hardware I have is…
Compaq Proliant
PII 400 mHz
512 MB RAM
RAID array
NT 4(sp4)
SQL 6.5 (sp5a)
Now for the problem…
I have recently installed SQL7 on the same server that I have 6.5 on and have been switching between them for about two weeks now. Today, after an extra long query, the machine froze and I had to reboot. After rebooting neither versions of SQL server (6.5 or 7) would start up. The application Event log has the following error: “Event ID 17055; Msg 17155: initblkmem: not enough memory for MEMMAP structures”.
If I start the server in min config. mode (sqlservr) I get the following message: “Error: 1620, Failure to open master db for the first time.”
I am desperate for a good solution that does not require a complete re-install!!!!
Can anyone help!
Thanks
David.
PS. Would a re-build of master db help?
