UNIX with SQL server2008
I need to start my SSIS package on WINDOWS as soon as some files have been modified on UNIX. IS it possible anyhow. I'm new to SQL server.

Since SSIS is running in a Windows environment and you want to trigger a job based on an event in a Unix machine, you need a mechanism for Windows to see Unix file. Two options to do that are
1. Setup SAMBA in unix so that the file directory can be shared to windows.
2. Setup NFS client in Windows, create NFS export in UNIX and mount it in windows.
I don't think SSIS has a native file drop event, you will have to use WMI or plain old T-SQL to query the folder in a loop and trigger your job execution.
