    backup progress bar

I am having a problem backing up a customer database to tape.
The progress bar just sits there with no movement. I have even left it running overnight and nothing the next day
I am able to backup all other databases (master, msdb, model).
    Any help would be appreciated.

    Thank you,

    backup progress bar (reply)

Is the process active when you are running it? i.e. is there disk activity, tape activity, CPU, etc?

Are you running a DBCC-something before the actual backup that is extremely slow?

Check out currently activity under EM to see what the various processes are doing... maybe somebody is locking the database and blocking the backup process.

Can you back up the database to disk?

Any messages in SQL Error Log or NT Event Log under system and application?
