    Database Archiving

    Hi,

    Are there any opensource database archiving solutions out there?

    Aware of expensive commerical solutons but wondering what options do DBAs use in general to reduce the size of individual large tables?

    Partition table if you are on sql2k5 and up.

    Hi,

    Thanks for that but I am really trying to do it via database archiving but it seems this is not a popular choice of action. Is there a reason for this as I thought it would be the simplest solution?

    You can archive data simply with switching partitions.
