Exclamation SQL Server 2k5 Service Pack 3

I am running into an issue when running service pack 3 for SQL server 2k5.

Here is a snapshot of the error:
    07/04/2009 22:40:28.226 Registry: Opened registry key "Software\Policies\Microsoft\Windows\Installer "
07/04/2009 22:40:28.241 Registry: Cannot read registry key value "Debug", error 0

The databases and the analysis services are still on SP2 everything else was updated.

I have given the service account domain admin rights and I still get this error. I have searched and found not much on it.

Does any one have any ideas?

Did you logon as local admin to install sp3?

does it need domain admin rights?

I ran the sp3 as the service account and got the same error message from above. Ran as domain admin and same thing.

    Please advice. Thanks!

Ensure windows account you logged on has permission on that registry key.

giving permission to the registry key did not work either.

Actually no I did not see that key but I gave full rights at the root level of that registry.

**Has anyone does this on a Cluster environment? I have a 3 Node cluster with 6 instances. I am doing this on Node C which is the Development instance.**

I applied sql2k5 sp3 on about 30 clustered servers, all worked fine.

Where is your SP3 software?, try copying it to one of the nodes in cluster and run it from there.
