    Installing MySQL

Taken from another forum i posted in, thought it'd be best to post here.

I've had MySQL installed before but it didn't work for some reason. Now having uninstalled it to reinstall is again i get errors on isntallation. It doesn't get past the security part which is the last bit. Now it seems to think that i have a password from my last MySQL installation because it asks for current password the new password.

So after MySQL has been uninstalled and the folder has been deleted where is the password kept for the old installation? I think i need to delete that file?

to be more exact the error says

    Error Nr. 1045
Access denied for user 'root'@'localhost' (using password: YES)
