Importing MSaccess files and structures into SQL6.5 Is BCP the only way??
I was wondering if the only way to import MSaccess files into sql6.5 is to dump the MSaccess file into a text file and then recreate the structure in SQL6.5 and then use the bcp command to copy the data into the new structure.
Is there an easier way?
thanks in advance.

I'm not sure about earlier versions of Access, but in Access97 you can export tables and/or queries to external databases. Select the table in the Database view. Select File, Save As/Export from the menu. Select Save to an external file or db from the window that pops up. In the next window, select in the "Save as type:" drop-down: ODBC Databases(). Name your new table. Select your DSN. Login to the server, and export the table in. Easier?

I did this with access95 with the upsize wizard, It worked great. I did have some problems though. I am using memo fields in access, When converting I did not know if a field var that would handle more than 255 chars. SO all my memo fields had to be reduced to 255 chars. I am still researhing the sql 6.5 to figure out how to get more out of one field, I am new to sql so this is a tough one. Blob maybe? Dunno.
Hope this helps.
