Student Progression Database

I'm new to designing databases but need to come up with some way of tracking student progress in a range of different areas. We need a separate sheet of data for each student (or subject area). I've been fiddling with various peices of software but haven't really got anywhere.

Does anybody know of any templates that i could modify for my purposes?

I'd like to use an easily manageable online version - perhaps zoho? This would help us present and enter the data, as there are three of us working at lots of different locations.

Anybody have any suggestions for where to start?

if you are from IT background like app or database side then you could create your own using ASP.net, SQL Server and IIS etc.
