    Some Great Resources ...

I've noticed several blogs / ongoing articles, over the past couple of years, where individual DBAs document their lives day-by-day (including the triumphs and frustrations therein). Here's a great starting point, but, obviously, you can search this in-depth via Google, etc.:

    http://search.ittoolbox.com/ITtoolbox-blogs?r=dba

ITToolbox also has a vast amount of info on this in the whitepapers sections, among others - loads of detail re: DBA as a career, as well as grouped classifications of specific technical details, among a host of database specializations and occupational considerations.

Best of luck. Let us know how it goes!
