SS6.5
Greetings all,
Am I wrong in thinking maintaining a device for each db is an admin headache? As I have just started down the sql road I have read and understood a need to have seperate devices for logs and db`s - but does this apply to all db`s? If I have 20 db`s does this mean I should have 20 data devices and 20 log devices? Can I have 1 data and log device which contain all my user databases? This seems the better approach but does require acute awareness of db and log size growth so that the one device doesnt become full and effectively bring all the databases on the box to a screeching halt.

Is this the wrong approach or could a mixture apply? The databases that will eventually run on it aren`t mission critical stuff and won`t see thousands of transactions p/s. I known 7 will fix devices all together.

Thx in advance
