    connect to sql 2005 via vpn

    Hi,

    We have just installed MSSQL Server 2005 on our server. What I am finding is that I cannot connect to the server via our VPN.

    We are running MSSQL 2000 on the same server, and I am able to connect to this server via vpn.

    Any suggestions?

    Did you open sql port used by sql2k5? Did you specify correct instance name?

    Which port needs to be opened?


    I am able to connect to the SQL server from my office - but when I try to connect from home via vpn - it says It cannot find the server.

    The instance name is specified via Management Studio Express.

    You have to find out port number in sql server configuration manager, and open it in firewall on vpn.
