    Angry install mysql 4.1.14-win32 failed

    Hi ,
    I try to install mysql 4.1.14 win32 , I got error at
    mysql server instance configuration.
    step prepare configation ok
    write configuration file ok
    start server fail
    apply security settings is empty
    cannnot create windows server for mysql error:0
    before I install mysql win 4.06 sucessful on my pc, then I uninstall i twha tis wrong??

    got it. give the server a new name , don't chose the defaul name.

    you faund the solution yourself ...

    but the problem with early versions like 4.06 is that uninstalling does not always remove the service from the registry completely.

    I once spent several hours to find those two keys that should be deleted!

    Much much easier what you did: to choose another name!
