    ORA-12638:Credential retrieval failed

    When I try to log into the database it is throwing the error -ORA-12638:Credential retrieval failed. When I logged for the second time it is not.
    But when I try to log for the next time it is throwing the same error. Help me to solve this issue

    i don't know if this is the case for you but i have seen this occur when the authorization on the network is unstable. in a few environments i have worked in it was a function of changing a passsword on a client machine that didn't get propogated through the network until a reboot of that client machine.
