    Thanks for the prompt reply.

On installation of SP 3, it returned Error tat time expired during the validating of sa password. It said verify you can start server and that sa password is ok.

Service control manager failed on starting sql server service. It reported that sql server terminated unexpectedly.

I stopped the following services, SQL Server, SQL Server Agent, MSDTC and SQl Search Service.

    Thanks for your help.

    Thanks.

In Event Viewer The message was MSSQL SERVER terminated unexpectedly and it is taking 0 corrective action.

In the error log, It says
Atempting to initialize Distributed Transaction Coordinator.

    I hope this helps better.

    Thanks.

    Thanks Mak.

I have reinstalled SP3A and same error message. I have SP 3 on the WIN (Advanced)2K.
I will reinstall the SQL Server and restore my System and Users databases since I took backup before SP application.

    Thanks.

    Thanks Mak.

I have reinstalled SQL2K with SP 2 and restored my Databases. The DBs are ok.
I would reinstall SP 3 at a future date.

The error was described by Microsoft in the article below.

    Thanks for your help.
