    Shrinking Databases

    I seem to be having a little trouble shrinking some databases. I run a backup of both the database and transaction log. Then run shrink database (from the GUI) and nothing changes. This database is 100MB but only has 25MB worth of data. Yet I have run exactly the same thing and the database has decreased in size, eg from 36GB to 23GB.

    I also have an issue with the transaction logs. At one point they grew to be upto 14GB when they only now grow to a much smaller size. I want to shrink the actual transaction log space available.

    All DB's are on Full recovery. SQL Server 2000

    Search for Shrinking database in SQL2000 or Ask Expert forum, there have been many discussions in the past about this topic.
