.sql and MySql.....are they the same thing?

im compleltley knew to databases and i really have no knowledge of MySql databases and im wandering if there is anybody that can tell me what a .sql database is (a database with the extention .sql) . is a .sql database the same as a MySql database? could anybody also direct me to a place were i could possibly learn about .sql databases?

MySQL is a free database. .sql is not a database, it must be a sql script file, that is the most common file extention used for sql scripts.

You can pick any beginners book on database of your choice.
