Trouble installing Oracle 8.1.7 on Pentium 4

    Hi
I'm trying to install Oracle 8.1.7 on my Pentium 4 at work. The problem is that when I run the application exectutable the installer does not run for me to install it. I talked to our PC techs and they said that there has been problems with trying to get Oracle to run on a Pentium 4 machine (something to do with the Processor).

Can anyone help me with this problem.

    Thanks

    Oracle Client

Search for Note:131299.1 in metalink.oracle.com if you are a member.
That will give different solutions for your problem

    If not.

Here is what needs to be done.

    1. Create a temporary directory on your server.
    2. Copy the entire contents of the Oracle RDBMS Server CD to the temporary directory created in step 1.
    3. Search the directory structure created in Step 1 for the existence of the filename symcjit.dll.
    4. Rename each copy of the symcjit.dll to symcjit.old.
    5. Run the setup.exe from the \install\win32 directory and install Oracle 8.1.x and related products.
