    Smile Memory in sqlserver

    Hi all:
    New to sqlserver 2000. When I run an application the sqlserver memory goes up and with each window that gets opened the memory goes up again. All this seems logical.
    However, when I exit the application, the memory remains at the last level it was in before closing the application.
    Is this normal?

    Yes.

    SQL Server will only release the memory if other applications need it.
