Installed wrong version of SQL Server
We installed an Enterprise version onto a server that only needs Standard. Unfortunately an outside supplier installed software and databases on it before we realised our mistake. Is it safe to just install Standard 'over the top'and what would that do to the application's databases ?

My understanding is that underlying file structires are identical. But whether just installing standard over the top will work I don't know. My suggestion would be backup ALL databases. Uninstall Ent. Reinstall standard. I think you will find the files in the data directory still exist so you could then either use sp-attachdb to reattach hem or restore the backups you made at the start.
