error ASP 0177:800401f3 - ASPdbPro-Eval Problem

The following error occur after initial installation and registration of
ASPdbPro-Eval.dll which I downloaded.

Installed latest copy of Personal Web Server 4.0 today and installed to
replace 3.0.

Editted the "File Type" for ASP files to IExplore.exe.

Correctly registered the dll with REGSVR32.

Justasp.asp reporting that HTML and ASP was working.

Problem Is:
The ASP-test-pro.asp and smartdb.asp reported:

Server object error 'ASP 0177 : 800401f3'

Server.CreateObject Failed

/smartdb.asp, line 36

800401f3


Please advise as I really want to review this software tool. I am new to this tool for me so please assist in anyway possible.

Hi,

Well, it "sounds" like it didn't register properly. You say you did a regsvr32 dllname.dll to register it, but that error "createobject failed" is usually do to it not being registered right. Did register it in the directory where it was installed (along with the VBxx.dll)?

Also, maybe you need to upgrade to ADO 2.0? We've got a link on our web site under "Useful Links" that points you to the upgrade.

Thank you John for the reply. Yes you were correct, once I re-registered the dll everything was great.
Thank you again.

Now the work begins of evaluation and development. Looks like ASP-db Pro may be the answer.
