    An important ODBC problem

    Dear friends,
After installing visual interdev, on a webserver (nt4.0 ent server),
whenever I was trying to configure the DSN on the ODBC settings, It gives
" The ODBC resource DLL (C:WINNTSYSTEM32odbcint.dll)is a different
vaersion than the ODBC setup dll(c:winntsystem32odbccp32.dll)
you need to reinstall the ODBC components to ensure proper operation." error msg.

I thought of removing all the ODBC drivers and reinstlling the odbc drivers came with NT SERVER. I don't know how to do it. If anyone knows how to do it, can you please post it. Thanks a lot.

If in doubt always apply the latest!!!
The latest odbc drivers are on technet .. otherwise download from ms web site.
It can depend which version of which you are using is the interdev a new release?

It's difficult to be precise .. I usually work on making sure I have service packs applied so I'd make sure nt had sp5 ( still testing 6 ) Then I'd re-apply the odbc pack it's on the technet server utils cd.
Don't forget the sps for visual studio either .
with odbc you usually just overwrite with new versions. I've not had the exact problem you've had I admit.

Normally this happens when one of the DLL:s is in use when the other updates with a newer or later version.

Either reboot you machine and reinstall ODBC-drivers from some source.

It's always good to install the ODBC-drivers from MDAC(Mircrosoft Data Access Components).

You can download it at http://www.microsoft.com/msdownload/uda/mdac_typ.asp

then you install it and hopefully it'll work.

Remember to stop all activities that can use ODBC when you install it
