ERRORLOG has the below contents when I attempt to start the SQL Mail Supprot Service. I have verified that my mail profile is properly configured.

2001-03-05 10:23:48.98 ods Starting SQL Mail session...
2001-03-05 10:23:50.20 ods Error: 17903, Severity: 18, State: 1
2001-03-05 10:23:50.20 ods MAPI login failure..
2001-03-05 10:23:50.20 ods Error: 17951, Severity: 18, State: 1
2001-03-05 10:23:50.20 ods Failed to start SQL Mail session..

you may think that mail is properly configured but you are wrong my friend. sql mail is a major pain. look up this article on technet: Q263556
I tried installing sql mail w/o exchnage server for a long time, posted to these boards many, many times, and you'll get the same generic answers which are not the real problem...it has to do with no only what you install, but who you do it as, and how you do it.
