    SQL 7.0 with SMS 2.0

We are in the planning stages of upgrading our 2500+ client site from SMS 1.2 SvcPk4, SQL6.5 SvcPk4 to SMS 2.0. Currently, we have the SMS database co-existing with other SQL 6.5 databases on a separate SQL server. However, we would like to 1)move the SMS database to our primary site server and 2)upgrade the SMS database from SQL 6.5 to SQL 7.0, but are running into resistance from our DBA's regarding SQL 7.0 (upgrading & management). They are asking us why Microsoft is recommending the move to SQL 7.0 for SMS 2.0. If anyone can provide us with any specifics as to the benefits (beyond MS's sales pitch) this move will buy us, we would greatly appreciate it.

SMS 2.0 will not run on 6.5. That sounds like a good enough answer for your DBA's to me............

    Craig,
Hmmmm, Microsoft does state in its documentation that SQL6.5 SvcPk5 (SvcPk4 with a particular DLL file update) can work with SMS2.0. I've attended SMS User group meetings where MS reps stated this to be true. Where did you get your information? Hands-on with SMS2.0, the documentation or rumour?

Actually, the only incompatabilities are with SMS 1.2 and SQL 7. MS posted a "We're not supporting this" Notice a few months ago.
