    install problem

I can`t install SQL7. I get an error telling me that the ODBC drivers need to be updated but that one or more of them are in use. I have shut down all of the services I can, and there are no other programs running. Has anyone else encountered this problem.

    I running a Compaq 5000r.

    Thanks,
    Rob

Ran into the same problem. Conflict was with NT services -
SQL Executive, MSSQL server, and MSDTC. Also discovered a
checklist in the readme file that said to shut down all
    services dependent os SQL server.

I have gone past the ODBC message to the place where MDAC MS data
access components are to install and get a failed to initialize error.
Message is in regard to acmsetup.exe and is as follows: The application
failed to initialize properly (0xc000006). Click on OK to terminate the application.

Have also hit a few more error messages in the process -- at various
stages. SQL7 not yet installed.... Have installed ntsp3, and sqlsp4.

    Suggestions???
