I copied the message below from an earlier posting. We have several 6.5 servers and one 7.0 server (without 6.5 on it also).
We installed the client 6.5 utilities on a seperate Win95 machine and registered all our 6.5 servers. We then installed the 7.0 client utilites
on the same machine and registered the 7.0 server. We can connect to the 7.0 server through the new EM but when we try and connect to
the 6.5 servers through the new EM the client machine will hang and we see no sign of the result as seen below.

Any Ideas?

*****SQL Server 7 Beta 3 is good about co-existing with other 6.5 servers. It will import all of your 6.5 server
*** registration information. When you click on a 6.5 server in the new Enterprise Manager, it will launch the
*** old Enterprise Manager in a child window. You should be in good shape as long as you don`t uninstall the
*** existing 6.5 stuff on your workstation. By the way, by default, SQL Server 7 will put its files in c:mssql7
*** so it won`t overwrite stuff in c:mssql.
