    SQL client /server connection problems

    Dear all,

We have three work station connected to one central server.
We run Windows Nt 4, Service Pack 5, SQL server 7.

One work station conects very slowly to the SQL server running on the Windows Nt server.

On the other work station the connection is OK.

    I checked :

    1. client/network network utility under SQL server
    2. I changed the network card and memory on the troubled work station
    3. reinstalled SQL server on the work station, and reset the Server

The connection is still very slow.

I would be grateful for any suggestion

As for me it looks like either router or hub problem. Just a quick check. Swap your bad workstation with any good workstations and check the speed.

If you are using WINS, you probably have a bad entry for that client and it is pinging the world trying to find the server. Just a thought.

You have slow responce with isql or your apps? If with apps, what's netlib used in it? Set up sql client to use same netlib as your apps.

    Thanks for your help.
I followed your advice, and the WINS was causing problems.
