Here's a good one. Has anyone ever experienced the same problems that we have? We had a production server acting up one day. After noticing a DTS package was hanging up, stalling and not completing, we decided to cycle the SQL Server Agent and then restart the job having difficulties. After doing so, we could not get the SQL Server Agent started again. Our only solution was to change the services account information for SQL Server Agent and call MS wondering what the heck happened.

First they said that it was due to us eliminating the BUILTIN/administrator account, nope we go back in and add our own Domain/administrator account, next.

Second, they (MS) said that they have had other cases in which the SQL Server Agent would not run and they suggested that if you had SQL Mail going with a properly configured MAPI, to drop it and re-create it. Thus this would solve your problem.

It worked but when approached with an explanation as to what just occured, MS could not procude an answer. They are currently trying to find information supportive to this problem but as of yet, are not having any luck.

So I decided to probe the airwaves and find out if any of you guys out there have run across this problem. If you have, please let us know.

Thanks,
Daimon
