    Scheduling DTS package

I'm geting an error when I schedule a DTS package using the GUI. I get garbage after the DTSrun cmd, which produces an 'invalid handle' message, when I edit the DTSrun command in the job sa follows:

    DTSRun: /Scorp_treasury /Ujjohnston /Pxxxxx /N DTS_Daily_Behavior /M

it tells me that it cannot find the file specified:

    DTSRun: Loading...
    Error: -2147287038 (80030002); Provider Error: 0 (0)
Error string: The system cannot find the file specified.
Error source: Microsoft Data Transformation Services (DTS) Package
    Help file: sqldts.hlp
    Help context: 713

I'm just trying to execute the thing, it runs just fine when I execute it manually, it should be simple! - what's up?

A nickle for anyone who can help me!

    Jim,

When you schedule a package by right clicking on the package and set all the required params, it works fine. It has so far for me.

Appreciate the insight, but can you tell me...

Do you get a standard DTSrun when you look at it in the jobstep? ? or do you get 'incomprehensible goo' ? - here is what shows up in the cmmand box....

    DTSRun /~Z0x23339843425E3BC436AE9B6928BA9C15839FDF9D4313B4 ABB6BD113FB64A5CB1F3EF6A5998CA9692021507F1FA7C6CD8 DFA46A90E9123FA7AA35B176B25A310B52E051D345C4748E13 4A621645C12FDB9D28AB94087A9F0E67DC9787F2CBB4C9922A A69305E64570DF6B65D1008115A82E6F277BAC9B79C239AE8D AFB99F764AFCA7C409F8CFD4D3DECC24118E7D2A056CD92852 E4F89E30A22855F0E792936051E477

I think I have the clicking and required params thing down pretty well, but I don't see where the goo comes from, seems to me like it should look like a DTSrun command, not ascii code, but I haven't seen one that works yet so I can't say...

I have experienced this problem just few days ago, after installing sp3 on my local desktop sql. However, the server itself has sp2.
If you have not done so, then try this:
    1. Schedule DTS jobs directly from the server.
    2. Or make sure you have the same sp on all environments to schedule dts jobs from another machine.

    Good luck!

Every blasted one of the DTS problems I've run into are Service pack problems. I agree with the previous note - make sure you're running the same SP across your enterprise.
