    I always go for SQL Server Survival guide...6.5,7.0,2000
    Spend some time in the Book shop and do some research. That usually
    gives a general idea. Different kinds of approach in many books.

    I dont know of any book but the website www.sql-server-performance.com is quite good!!!!
