How to upgrde to enterprise edition from standard edition of Sql server

Hi,
We are planning to upgrade our standard edition of sql server 7.0 to enterprise edition. Is that an upgrade path or reinstall. What precautions I need to take? Wherecan I get documentation on this?
I grealty appreciate any help on this.
