Due to market conditions in London in the second half of
last year, and after suffering a common fate, being made
redundant by a failed internet company, I found myself
working as a contractor in Edinburgh. Though a very
nice place, my home, family and friends are in London and
I would like to return there. Failing that, my contract
finishes on 12 April, so if anyone knows of any position
that I may be suitable for, I would love to hear from
them. There follows a copy of my current CV.

I am an IT professional with over 20 years experience, the last twelve years in database administration. Currently working exclusively with SQL Server. I am familiar with versions 6, 6.5, 7 and 2000, on the NT4 and Windows 2000 platform.

Prior to that I was supporting Adabas on both IBM mainframe and DEC Vax platforms.

Most of my career has been in the finance industry, this has given me a good understanding of a wide range of financial products. These include Equities (Charm, Talisman, Euroclear and Crest), Compliance (SFA and internal), Derivatives (Traded Options, Conventional Options and Futures), Private Banking, Unit Trusts and Foreign Exchange.

I like working as a database administrator. Finding the role challenging and the interaction with other areas, development, operations, management and users enjoyable. My desire is to stay in database administration. In a former role I was a team leader and would welcome a return to this position. As well as good technical knowledge, my main strength is my ability to communicate well with people. Building very solid relationships with the people I work with. This also allows me to be very effective mentoring more junior members of the department.
