9i Client with 8i DB problems

Hi All,

We have a development team that is having a problem with data being corrupted when updated/inserted into the database. Certain columns are being written as junk. Oracle does not see this as a corruption, so I don't believe it is on the database side that this is happening.

The team is using ATG Dynamo (which I'm not familliar with) and the 9.2 Oracle client to connect to an 8.1.7.2 database. I believe Oracle swears up and down that this (9i -> 8i) setup is not a problem, but the development team is convinced this is the issue and wants to convert the web servers client software back to the 8i release.

Problem is, is that this is a shared environment and this is the only database where this issue is occurring. We have many databases ranging from early 8 to 9203 versions.

Any insights would be greatly appreciated as I have searched Metalink and technet to no avail.
