Using Personal Web Server without phone connection
I took delivery today of a laptop with Windows98 and installed Personal Web Server version 4 and registered the ASPdbview-local.dll successfully.
I copied the test asp and mdb files into a subdirectory (aspdb) of the designated root directory of PWS and attempted to access the test file :
http://localhost/aspdb/asp-test.asp
This access was disalloed while in `Working Offline` mode.
However, the same URL was successful (including the operation of ASPdb) when retried after a phone connection to my ISP was established.
The whole point of PWS to me is to be able to develop ASP/ASPdb without having to be attached to the phone connection (We pay for local calls by time). I want to be able to edit and test, edit and test all day without being on the phone.

Hi Rodney,
Although it`s beyond the scope of "ASP-db" support, you`re in luck! I`ve had the same problem myself and found out the solution is to install the Microsoft Loopback Adapter in the Network setup. Then, you can successfully go to either http://localhost or http://127.0.0.1 and see your local files.
Hope this helps!

Thanks for the reply. My WIn98 yielded nothing of the sort under Network,
but while looking around I found a flag for ignoring connection if in local area.
Forget exactly but at least it owkrs, and you got me looking in Control Panel, so thanks anyway.
