ODBC Connection to Sybase 11.9.2 on Linux

Anyone know the secret to creating a User or System DSN ODBC connection to a Sybase 11.9.2 server running on Redhat Linux? I can ping the server by name, so name resolution isn't a problem. Native ctlib connections work just fine, but I can't get any ODBC application to hook up. The error message from the ODBC driver says that the server name is not found. Phooie!
