converting to different codepage

i joined this forum bcoz i need help

i have a windows application , that accesses a database stored with db2 on a AS400 OS, the widndows applications sends string in ASCII (Arabic and english) (codepage 01256) to the database which uses the 00420 codepage... so the data recognized in windows is not recognized in AS400, is there any way to do conversion using db2? without writing a spereate application, bear in mind that there is no db2 client on the machine running windows application, its a java application that accesses a db2 server...

that there is a way to do codepage converting but when a db2 client is installed, is there any way to do converting on server without having a client??
