    Tempdb Size

when I restart SQL server my tempdb database is 1.9Gb. I thought it was deleted and replaced with a copy of the model database. Is this not so?

No, it gets created with the last size that you had manually expanded to. You can check it from master..sysaltfiles entry.

if you had never changed the tempdb size manually then it takes the size of model database

If you had changed it to 1.9Gb then next time when it starts it will start with 1.9GB.
