need to populate a database w/t gz file

hi,

i've never "populated" a database that was gz-zipped. it is 390mb gzipped, i ftp'd to my host site. contained in it is the mysql script. the file name is 277k-plus-articles-sql.

now, how do i import this file into my database (already in place). does file have to be opened at root into .txt file format? before import? because that will be a problem as file is big.

would appreciate any advice.

Unzip it then check the script to see what it does, you may need to get data file if the script loads data.
