Is there a easy way to change the name of Dimensions?

    Hi,

I need to change the name of some of my Dimensions and in some cases also need to change the name of the levels used in some dimensions....

Is there an easy way to do this or would I have to create my cubes from scratch?
which I really want to avoid

    Do a Copy / Paste ...

Do a copy / paste of the dim / level. When you go to paste it back, it forces a name change, as MSAS cannot abide duplicates. But that's what you wanted to do anyway, right?

Once you have recreated the "clone," delete the predecessor. Be sure to process any copies - they have to be processed to be "registered," and to work properly going forward. Processing the entire MSAS dB might be the easiest approach, after making a set of changes.

Post feedback to the forum as to whether this was effective for you, as a solution, and if you have further questions.

    Good Luck!

    Thanks (again) Bill

I was aware of this particular but as you have correctly pointed out this is the only option available and yes, re-processing stuff following that is VERY important; i found that out thehard way

    Anyway problem solved.

    Regards.
