Go to client network utility on the server and choose another netlib as default one.

Yes, changed on sql server box. No error messages in agent log either. Any ideas? Some other jobs also are failing abruptly with same error.

sql server 2000 w/ sp3. These problems started when we moved server to a new box and windows 2003. Previously it was on windows 2000.

The closest issue we found from MS:

    http://support.microsoft.com/default...&Product=sql2k

We might end up applying this hotfix.

    Any more ideas?

Try that, but I don't have this issue on my win2k3/sql2k servers.
