Trying to view 'launched' asp files just asks for '...download'.
Hi
Having 'launched' my asp-db demo onto my host web server, provided by a company called Rapidsite, all the asp-db asp files viewed accross the Internet, within various versions of IE or Netscape I get the message advising me of an ‘unknown file to be downloaded'. The demo works fine on my localhost – should I register the dll file on-line or does this mean my web hosting location can't support ASP ?
Any advise very gratefully received.
Thanks
Mick.

Hi Mick,
If you're getting that message when you click on ANY .ASP file, then it
means that your site is NOT running IIS and does not support ASP programs.
If it's a Unix site for example, this would be the case. You'll need to ask
them if they have any NT boxes running IIS, or else find a provider that
does. There are literally thousands of ISPs that do support ASP (and
therefore can run ASP-db) out there.
Thanks,
John

Thanks for your prompt response and I believe it is a Unix site - can you recommend
any IIS for the UK, not that that really matters where they are located I suppose.
Thanks again
Mick

Hi Mick,
No specific recommendations. Try www.thelist.com as a starter. It bills
itself as the "definitive ISP buyers guide". You can browser by country code (UK is in there) and go from there.
Thanks,
John
