Replication from 6.5 to 7.0 - is it possible?

We recently set up a new server and installed SQL 7.0. I need to replicate a database from our Production which is still SQL 6.5. If I try a PUSH subscription, I can't see the SQL 7.0 server from 6.5, If I try PULL, I can't see the 6.5 server from 7.0. What am I doing wrong? Surely this is possible.
Any help would be appreciated.
