Potential deadlocks

My SQL error logs are fillling with below error message:

Error 17884
Potential deadlocks exist on all schedulers

my server has 8 processors and I am running SQL 2000 Ent edi SP4 on windows server 2003 SP2 ent edi.

and I am experiencing connection timeout errors intermittently.

max worker threads option in SP_configure is set to 255. does that make any difference in 8 rocessor scenario?

how do I overcome this situation. it has been a headache for last week or so.

Value of max worker threads will affect number of active concurrent connections.
