Database log size estimation

Dear friends,

Suppose, my tables and indexes in SQL Server is 500MB , on what basis the database log size is estimated ? What size is the dump file ? On What
basis we are calculating these estimates ? This is for the estimation of database size ? All are replies are highly appreciated.
